Snowflake ID Timestamp Decoder (Discord & X)
Every Discord message, user and server ID — and every X post ID — is a snowflake: a 64-bit integer whose high bits are a millisecond timestamp counted from a platform-specific epoch. Shift right by 22, add the epoch, and the ID tells you exactly when it was created.
- ✓Someone claims an account or message is older than it is — the ID itself settles the argument.
- ✓Discord and X use different epochs (2015 vs 2010), so the same number decodes to two different dates.
- ✓Most decoders make you pick a platform first; ours shows both interpretations side by side by default.
- ✓Moderation and OSINT work gets much faster when you can paste a whole log and date every snowflake in it.
FAQ
What are the Discord and X epochs?
Discord counts milliseconds from 1420070400000 (2015-01-01). X counts from 1288834974657 (2010-11-04). In both schemes the timestamp is the ID shifted right by 22 bits, plus the epoch.
Can a snowflake timestamp be faked?
The timestamp is part of the ID the platform issued, so a genuine ID cannot carry a false creation time. That is why snowflakes are popular evidence in moderation disputes.
Do I need the Discord API for this?
No. Decoding is pure arithmetic on the ID itself and runs in your browser — no API key, no lookup.
